Barbecue-style Sandwiches

Total Time: 15 mins Preparation Time: 5 mins Cook Time: 10 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 2
  • 1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped green pepper
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons dry mustard
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon celery seed
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/2 lb thinly sliced cooked lamb or 1/2 lb leftover lamb roast (can also use cooked beef or lamb instead of lamb)
  • 2 -4 french rolls, split and toasted

Recipe

  • 1 combine tomato sauce, onion, green pepper and sugar in a medium saucepan.
  • 2 stir in vinegar, worcestershire, mustard, chili powder, celery seeds and garlic.
  • 3 bring to a boil and reduce heat.
  • 4 add meat, simmer covered until meat is heated through (10-15 minutes).
  • 5 spoon mixture on the bottom half of rolls, cover with top halves.
