Barbecue-style Sandwiches

Ingredients

- 1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 1/4 cup finely chopped green pepper
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons vinegar
- 1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
- 1 1/2 teaspoons dry mustard
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1/4 teaspoon celery seed
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1/2 lb thinly sliced cooked lamb or 1/2 lb leftover lamb roast (can also use cooked beef or lamb instead of lamb)
- 2 -4 french rolls, split and toasted
Recipe
- 1 combine tomato sauce, onion, green pepper and sugar in a medium saucepan.
- 2 stir in vinegar, worcestershire, mustard, chili powder, celery seeds and garlic.
- 3 bring to a boil and reduce heat.
- 4 add meat, simmer covered until meat is heated through (10-15 minutes).
- 5 spoon mixture on the bottom half of rolls, cover with top halves.
