Beef Pot Roast Braised With Onions

Total Time: 4 hrs 10 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 4 hrs

Ingredients

  • Servings: 6
  • 2 slices bacon
  • 4 whole cloves
  • 4 lbs cross-rib roasts
  • 4 cups onions, thinly sliced
  • salt
  • pepper, freshly ground

Recipe

  • 1 blanch bacon in boiling water for 3 minutes.
  • 2 insert cloves into beef.
  • 3 spread onions on bottom of heavy casserole.
  • 4 lay bacon over onions.
  • 5 sprinkle beef with salt and pepper and place on top of onions.
  • 6 cover tightly.
  • 7 roast in 325 f over for 3 to 4 hours or until meat is tender and onions are brown.
  • 8 turn meat 3 or 4 times during cooking.
  • 9 to serve, slice meat and arrange on large platter. spoon onions and juices over slices.
