Beef Buffad

Total Time: 1 hr 40 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 1 hr 30 mins

Ingredients

Servings: 4-5

  • 3 tablespoons oil
  • 2 onions, sliced
  • 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • 3 green chilies, chopped
  • 3 1/2 cm piece ginger, chopped
  • 750 g chuck steaks, cubed
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 tablespoon ground coriander
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 1/4 cups coconut milk, or
  • 90 g cream coconut melted in 1 cup warm water
  • salt
  • 1/2 cup vinegar

Recipe

  • 1 heat the oil in a large saucepan, add the onions and fry until they are just beginning to brown, then add the garlic, chillies and ginger. fry for 1 minute, then add the beef and remaining spices.
  • 2 sitr well and cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • 3 add the coconut milk, which should just cover the meat; if it does not, add a little water.
