Barbecue Meatball Subs

Total Time: 1 hr 5 mins Preparation Time: 20 mins Cook Time: 45 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 8
  • 2 cups ketchup
  • 1 1/2 cups brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon liquid smoke
  • 1 1/2 lbs lean ground beef
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
  • 2 teaspoons worcestershire sauce
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 8 submarine buns
  • 1/2 cup shredded 2% mexican cheese blend (kraft)

Recipe

  • 1 combine meatball ingredients and then form into small 1-inch meatballs. place on baking sheet covered with wax paper and bake at 350 for 12-15 minutes or until done.
  • 2 in the meantime, combine the sauce ingredients in large pot and heat over medium-low heat. add meatballs to sauce once they come out of the oven. continue to cook on low for 30 minutes.
  • 3 put four meatballs inside each sub bun and sprinkle with shredded cheese.
