Beef And Beans With Oaty Cheese Crumble

Ingredients

  • Servings: 6
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons tomato ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons brown sauce
  • 14 ounces baked beans
  • salt & freshly ground black pepper
  • 6 ounces all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/2 ounces porridge oats
  • 2 ounces butter, cubed
  • 2 1/2 ounces cheese, grated
  • 1 pinch mustard powder
  • salt & freshly ground black pepper

Recipe

  • 1 dry-fry the beef and onion together in a medium saucepan for about 5 mins until browned.
  • 2 add the tomato ketchup, brown sauce, baked beans and season with salt and pepper.
  • 3 add about 2/3 cup boiling water, if necessary to give a moist but not too sloppy gravy.
  • 4 bring to the boil then reduce the heat and simmer for 15 minutes.
  • 5 set the oven to 400°f.
  • 6 to make the crumble: place the flour and oats into a mixing bowl, add the butter and rub it into the flour with your fingertips until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.
  • 7 stir in the cheese, mustard and salt and pepper.
  • 8 sprinkle the crumble over the beef and bake for 20 mins until golden.
