5 Ingredient German-style Beef Roast

Ingredients

  • Servings: 8
  • 3 lbs boneless beef rump roast
  • 1 (12 ounce) can beer
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Recipe

  • 1 trim any excess fat from the roast. place in a 4-quart dutch oven. in a bowl stir together beer and ketchup. pour over roast.
  • 2 bake, covered, in a 325 degree f oven for 2 1/2 hours or until tender.
  • 3 remove roast from dutch oven. cover meat; let stand while finishing sauce.
  • 4 meanwhile, stir brown sugar and pepper into the sauce. bring sauce to boiling; reduce heat. simmer, uncovered, for 10 minutes or until slightly thickened.
  • 5 slice roast. skim fat from sauce and serve with the meat.
