American Chowder

Total Time: 1 hr Preparation Time: 30 mins Cook Time: 30 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 8
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons butter or 2 tablespoons margarine
  • 4 cups potatoes, cubed
  • 2 cups cold water
  • 1 cup celery, sliced
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1 (12 ounce) package little smokies sausages or 1 (12 ounce) package hot dogs, sliced
  • 1/2 lb american cheese, cubed

Recipe

  • 1 cook an stir onion in butter in 3-quart saucepan on medium-high heat until tender.
  • 2 add potatoes, water, celery and seasonings.
  • 3 bring to a boil.
