Belgian Stew

Ingredients

- 2 lbs beef stew meat
- 2 tablespoons oil
- 1 large onion, diced
- 2 carrots, diced
- 2 stalks celery, diced
- 1 teaspoon garlic, minced
- 12 ounces beer
- 1 1/2 teaspoons marjoram
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon celery seed
- 1 bay leaf
- to taste salt and pepper
Recipe
- 1 heat the oil in a soup pot.
- 2 toss the beef in flour.
- 3 add to the oil and brown.
- 4 add the remaining ingredients.
- 5 slowly.
- 6 bring to a boil.
- 7 reduce the heat and simmer until all ingredients are tender (about 1 1/2 hours).
- 8 serve warm with hearty bread.
