Baked Gnocchi Bolognese With Mozzarella

Total Time: 1 hr 10 mins Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 55 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 6
  • 1 1/2 lbs lean ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 -2 garlic clove, finely chopped
  • 1 (8 ounce) package mushrooms, sliced (fresh sliced mushrooms)
  • 1 lb gnocchi (fresh gnocchi)
  • 1 (10 ounce) container four cheese pasta sauce (this is kept near refrigerated pasta section in grocer, it is a 4 cheese sauce made with gorgo)
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • salt
  • pepper
  • 1 cup marinara sauce (from jar, ragu etc.)

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • 2 saute' ground beef, onion and garlic in a nonstick pan and fry gently for 5-6 minutes, stirring often.
  • 3 stir in the mushrooms and cook another 5-6 minutes until the meat is browned.
  • 4 pour in marinara sauce & bring to the boil, season with salt & pepper, then cover and simmer for 15 minutes.
  • 5 meanwhile, prepare gnocchi per package directions & drain well.
  • 6 next, spoon half the bolognese mixture into a large baking or casserole dish, then top with the gnocchi. add the remaining bolognese sauce and then spoon the formaggio cheese sauce over the top.
  • 7 sprinkle with the mozzarella to coat top.
  • 8 bake on the top shelf of the oven for 30-35 minutes, until golden and bubbling.
  • 9 serve immediately.
