Beefy Rice Pilaf With Lentils

Total Time: 40 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 30 mins

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 carrot, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 pinch celery seed
  • 1 1/2 cups rice
  • 1/2 cup lentils
  • 3 cups beef stock

Recipe

  • 1 in a heavy-bottomed pot heat the olive oil and butter on medium to medium-high heat.
  • 2 add the rice, onions, carrots, and seasonings. keep stirring as the rice loses the translucency that it got from the oil and goes again. be very careful not to burn it because scorched grain reeks and tastes horrible.
