Bacon Cheddar Dog Biscuits

Total Time: 55 mins Preparation Time: 20 mins Cook Time: 35 mins

Ingredients

  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 6 tablespoons margarine
  • 6 tablespoons bacon fat
  • 1 cup water, boiling
  • 3/4 cup cornmeal
  • 2 teaspoons brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons beef bouillon granules (optional)
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 cup parmesan cheese (or romano)
  • 4 bacon pieces
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 3 cups whole wheat flour

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 165'c (325'f).
  • 2 cook bacon until crisp. crumble into pieces.
  • 3 in a large bow, combine rolled oats, margarine, bacon fat and boiling water. mix well and let stand for ten minutes.
  • 4 stir in the sugar, cornmeal, milk, cheeses, bacon crumbles, egg and 2 teaspoons beef bouillon granules.
  • 5 mix in the flour, one cup at a time until it becomes a firm dough.
  • 6 knead dough on floured surface, mixing additional flour as needed to make a smooth and non-sticky dough.
  • 7 roll out to 1/2" thickness and cut cookies with your favourite cookie cutter.
  • 8 place on greased cookie sheet and bake for 35 to 45 minutes or until cookies become golden brown.
  • 9 cool and serve.
