Beef Stew With Cheddar Dumplings

Ingredients

  • Servings: 6
  • 2 -3 lbs beef stew meat, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 5 cups water
  • 5 beef bouillon cubes
  • 4 carrots, sliced
  • 1 medium onion, cut into wedges
  • 1 (16 ounce) can green beans, drained
  • 2 cups biscuit mix
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2/3 cup milk

Recipe

  • 1 in a dutch oven, heat oil and brown meat on all sides.
  • 2 add onion salt, pepper, garlic salt, water and bouillon.
  • 3 bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer, covered, about 1 hour.
  • 4 add carrots and onion.
  • 5 simmer, covered, until vegetables are tender.
  • 6 stir in green beans.
  • 7 for dumplings, combine biscuit mix and cheese.
  • 8 stir in enough milk to form a soft dough.
  • 9 drop by tablespoonful into bubbling stew.
  • 10 cover and simmer 12 minutes (do not lift cover) or until dumplings are done.
