Asian Appetizer Meatballs With Hot N' Spicy Dipping Sauce

Total Time: 35 mins Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 20 mins

Ingredients

  • 4 teaspoons mrs. dash seasoning mix (original blend)
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 8 ounces water chestnuts
  • 1/4 cup egg substitute or 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/4 cup dry sherry
  • 1/3 cup chopped scallion (both parts)
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 4 teaspoons mrs. dash seasoning mix (original blend)
  • 2 cups unsweetened pineapple juice
  • 3/4 cup catsup
  • 3/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 6 tablespoons cider vinegar
  • 6 tablespoons dry sherry
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger

Recipe

  • 1 dipping sauce:.
  • 2 combine all ingredients in a 1 qt saucepan.
  • 3 bring to a boil; stir constantly until thickened, about 10 minutes.
  • 4 cool slightly before serving.
  • 5 meatballs:.
  • 6 preheat oven to 350ºf.
  • 7 drain and finely chop water chestnuts; finely chop green onions.
  • 8 combine ground beef, water chestnuts, egg substitute or egg, sherry, green onions, mrsdash original blend, and ginger in large bowl; mix well.
  • 9 shape into 32 meatballs, about 1" in diameter.
  • 10 place meatballs on rack in broiler pan.
  • 11 bake meatballs 15-20 minutes.
  • 12 serve with dipping sauce which should be made while cooking the meatballs.
