Barbecued Spareribs

Total Time: 2 hrs 35 mins Preparation Time: 35 mins Cook Time: 2 hrs

Ingredients

  • 4 lbs country-style spareribs (i always use beef ribs for this one)
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 3 teaspoons dry mustard
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons ground pepper
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon celery seed
  • 1/4 cup vinegar
  • 1/4 teaspoon hot sauce
  • 1/4 cup worcestershire sauce
  • 1 cup catsup
  • 1 cup water

Recipe

  • 1 cut spareribs into serving pieces.
  • 2 brown ribs on both sides in a skillet.
  • 3 season with salt and pepper.
  • 4 remove from skillet and place in a 4 qt roasting pan.
  • 5 combine pepper, chili powder, celery seed, 1 tsp salt, brown sugar, vinegar, hot sauce, and worcestershire sauce in a saucepan.
  • 6 bring to a boil.
  • 7 cook for 5 min on low heat until well blended.
  • 8 pour over ribs.
  • 9 cover.
  • 10 bake at 325* for 2 -2 1/2 hours or until tender.
  • 11 remove cover.
  • 12 increase temprature to 350*, bake until ribs are brown.
  • 13 remove to a warm platter.
