Ann's Shopping Trip Beef Stew

Ingredients

  • Servings: 8
  • 2 1/2-3 lbs stew meat
  • 1 (14 ounce) can tomatoes, crushed, undrained
  • 1 (8 ounce) can mushrooms, sliced, undrained
  • 1 cup soft breadcrumbs
  • 3 tablespoons tapioca (3 tbsp. flour may be substituted)
  • 1 (15 ounce) can green peas, undrained
  • 2 medium onions, sliced
  • 4 carrots, cut in small pieces
  • 1 cup celery, chopped
  • 1 green pepper, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 cup burgundy wine

Recipe

  • 1 in the bottom of a large casserole, spread the stew meat.
  • 2 in the order listed above, add remaining ingredients.
  • 3 cover and cook at 250ºf for 4 to 5 hours.
  • 4 stir after 3 hours.
