Beef Yakni

Total Time: 1 hr 10 mins Preparation Time: 30 mins Cook Time: 40 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 2 cups rice
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 star anise
  • 1/16 teaspoon cardamom
  • 1 clove
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon coriander
  • 1 teaspoon madras curry powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon fennel seed
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, crushed
  • 3 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 onions, diced
  • 1 lb steak, tenderized so it doesnt have to cook as long
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1 potato, diced
  • 1 green chili pepper, minced
  • 4 cups beef broth
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper

Recipe

  • 1 soak rice in water 1/2 hour , drain
  • 2 in pan melt butter add clove star anise fennel
  • 3 brown a minute
  • 4 add garlic and ginger
  • 5 brown add onions add beef and brown may need to add a little more butter
  • 6 add spices
  • 7 and brown
  • 8 add potato
  • 9 brown a little
  • 10 add broth
  • 11 add rice drained
  • 12 and green chili
  • 13 add salt and pepper
  • 14 cover and simmer 20 minutes until rice is cooked.
