Beef Onion Bake

Total Time: 2 hrs 30 mins Preparation Time: 30 mins Cook Time: 2 hrs

Ingredients

  • Servings: 8
  • 2 lbs round steaks, cubed
  • 1/2 cup whole wheat flour (stone ground)
  • 2 teaspoons cavenders all purpose greek seasoning
  • 4 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 large yellow onion, sliced thin
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 (14 ounce) can beef broth
  • 1 1/2 cups dry red wine (merlot)
  • 1 head garlic
  • 4 garlic cloves, diced

Recipe

  • 1 ===pots and pans:.
  • 2 large electric skillet, 1-9x13 casserole dish, 1 gallon ziplock bag, aluminum foil (or lid) to cover casserole dish.
  • 3 ===preparation:.
  • 4 mash and peel garlic.
  • 5 skin onion, slice in half, then slice thinly.
  • 6 in 1 gallon bag, mix flour and cavender's greek seasoning.
  • 7 cube meat.
  • 8 dice 4 cloves garlic.
  • 9 ===cooking:.
  • 10 heat oil in electric skillet to 300°f.
  • 11 place meat in bag, shake/turn to coat with flour.
  • 12 remove meat from bag, shaking off excess flour, add to oil in skillet.
  • 13 brown meat on all sides.
  • 14 remove meat to casserole dish.
  • 15 add whole cloves and diced to casserole dish.
  • 16 preheat oven to 350°f.
  • 17 add olive oil to skillet as needed to saute onions. add onions to skillet and saute until soft.
  • 18 remove onions to casserole dish.
  • 19 add wine and beef broth to casserole dish.
  • 20 cover casserole dish and place in oven. bake for 2 hours.
