Beef Stew With Dumplings

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • oil
  • 700 g beef
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 2 onions
  • 4 carrots
  • 1 turnip
  • 600 ml beef stock
  • salt
  • pepper
  • 2 teaspoons mixed herbs
  • 110 g spaetzle dumpling mix
  • 4 tablespoons parsley
  • parsley

Recipe

  • 1 preheat the oven to 160c/gas 3. spray a large, non-stick frying pan with oil and place over a medium heat. add the meat and stir-fry until brown on all sides. transfer to a medium casserole dish and add the garlic, onions, carrots, turnip, and stock. season well, then add the dried herbs. cover tightly and cook in the oven for 2 hours.
  • 2 meanwhile, put the dumpling mix in a bowl, stir in the parsley, and add 2tbsp of cold water to make a soft dough. season well and divide the dough into 8 equal pieces. shape each one into a ball and set aside.
  • 3 uncover the casserole and place the dumplings on top of the beef mixture. cover and return to the oven for 20-25 minutes. sprinkle the casserole with chopped parsley before serving.
