Beef & Beer Stew

Total Time: 2 hrs 30 mins Preparation Time: 30 mins Cook Time: 2 hrs

Ingredients

  • Servings: 8
  • 1/3 cup salt lamb or 1/3 cup bacon, finely chopped
  • 3 lbs beef stew meat
  • 3 large onions, sliced
  • 3 tablespoons paprika
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon dried marjoram
  • 2 (12 ounce) cans beer
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
  • 4 large potatoes, cubed
  • 6 carrots, thickly sliced

Recipe

  • 1 render salt lamb or bacon in a large stew-pot.
  • 2 add meat.
  • 3 cook over medium high until browned.
  • 4 remove meat.
  • 5 reduce heat to medium.
  • 6 add onions and cook until tender.
  • 7 return meat to pot.
  • 8 add seasonings, beer, water, tomato paste and worcestershire sauce. stir and cover.
  • 9 simmer until beef is tender, about 1 â½ hours.
  • 10 add vegetables, cover and simmer until done, about 45 minutes.
